Building ICG 1610

Getting Started

With all my projects once of the first things I do is gather up all my research and sit down at the work bench with the model. First step is just comparing the photos to the model itself. I'm taking a little section at a time and making notes as to what needs to be done in the area like adding/removing detail parts to make it look like the photo.

I use a pad of paper and take notes on all the things that need to be done in each area. This becomes the basis for my check list. The check list will be used so I don't forget something prior to slapping the paint on it. Even with the list I've been know to make a "boo boo" which needs fixing. This model was no exception and I'll get into that later in the article.

Since 1610 used to be a GM&O unit, I first looked at GM&O photos to identify details that are unique to those units and see how they compare to 1610.

More on the way.........
